Wallawong Murray Grey clients have confirmed their reputation for producing elite carcases, scoring another big win with the Champion Unled Carcase for the third year in a row at 2017 the Wingham Beef Week.
The champion carcase was sired by Wallawong Quarterback, a bull sold at the Carcase Quality Sale in 2008. Several other bulls sold through the sale produced carcase class winners and gold medals at the 2017 Sydney Royal Easter Show.
Similar high quality carcase bulls with tremendous growth and muscling and the ability to finish quickly are available when 25 bulls go under the hammer at the 2017 Wallawong Carcase Quality Sale. The sale is July 13 at 1pm at Marriot Park, 13km south of Gunnedah on the Kamilaroi Highway.
With major processors implementing Meat Standards Australia grading systems and new PCAS market premiums available, cattle that can meet ideal carcase specifications easily are becoming highly sought after.
Due to the consistently high results experienced by commercial clients, Lachlan and Kate James are experiencing a surge of interest in their high growth and easy finish type Wallawong bulls.
The James’ have clients with Euro cross cows, Hereford cows, Santa Hereford cross, and black cows all coming to buy Wallawong bulls to maximise the hybrid vigour and improve carcase compliance in their offspring.
“We have...found that some who went towards European breeds chasing growth are dissatisfied with issues like calving ease and cattle that won’t finish easily. People trying out black bulls are getting temperament issues they never had before. With Wallawong bulls you can get growth and finish with a great temperament as well,” Mr James said.
“We encourage all beef producers looking for bulls...to come to our Open Days on June 30 and July 1 and inspect the cattle for themselves.”
