Bowe & Lidbury reported a total yarding this week of 854 live weight cattle. We saw a good yarding of quality weaners 240c/kg- 300c/kg. All regular buyers in attendance for this sale, overall the trade market was firm to 10c/kg stronger than last week’s sale with best butcher vealers topping at 386 c/kg with restocker steers topping at 447 c/kg.

There was 100 export cattle yarded this week. Best cows up 5c/kg topping at 238c/kg and the bull market firm to dearer.

Kempsey Stock & Land said about 960 head were presented last Thursday with producers keen to continue offloading weaners and vealers as winter closes in.
Prices were firm to dearer than last market, with restocker and backgrounder orders again taking the bulk of the younger cattle on offer.
Light-weight British bred weaner steers under 200kg were again keenly contested, topping at 534.2c/kg and averaging 384.2c/kg. This was 16 cents dearer for the sale top than last sale, with the average up 6c.
Calves from 200-280kg sold to a top of 426.2c/kg, down 4c, while veal to processors reached 324.4c/kg, up 4c. Heavier veal (280-330kg) made up to 3374.2c/kg, 30c up on last sale.
In the grown cattle section, heifers up to 330kg were back on last sale due mainly to quality, topping at 338.3c/kg, 6c up on last sale. Steers were up to 30c stronger – light weights up to 400kg topped at 338.2c/kg, while those over 400kg sold to 320c/kg, 10c better than a fortnight earlier.
