In the BHP Billiton Hunter Valley Group 21 Rugby League match of the round, the competition pacesetters pipped the 2016 defending premiers 26-22 in an entertaining fixture.
In fact, it was a weekend for close encounters.
The Denman Devils returned to the winner’s circle, courtesy of a 22-20 triumph, while the Aberdeen Tigers maintained its recent momentum by upstaging the Singleton Greyhounds 22-16.
Aberdeen hosts Denman this Saturday, while Muswellbrook travels to Greta Branxton and Singleton faces Scone on Sunday.
