Close encounters in round five of BHP Billiton Hunter Valley Group 21 Rugby League

IT won’t make up for last year’s grand final loss, but the Muswellbrook Rams gained some revenge over the Scone Thoroughbreds at Olympic Park on Sunday.

In the BHP Billiton Hunter Valley Group 21 Rugby League match of the round, the competition pacesetters pipped the 2016 defending premiers 26-22 in an entertaining fixture.

In fact, it was a weekend for close encounters.

The Denman Devils returned to the winner’s circle, courtesy of a 22-20 triumph, while the Aberdeen Tigers maintained its recent momentum by upstaging the Singleton Greyhounds 22-16.

Aberdeen hosts Denman this Saturday, while Muswellbrook travels to Greta Branxton and Singleton faces Scone on Sunday.
