About 90 players took to the course on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, with only a handful getting caught on the greens when the heavens opened on day three.
“We’re very happy with that number,” Upper Hunter Veteran Golfers Association captain Max Holz said.
“We had players from Charlestown, ACT, Hervey Bay, Coffs Harbour, Sawtell, Port Macquarie, Tamworth and Kurri, as well as the Upper Hunter.
“While Monday and Tuesday was a 36-hole event, we competed for the NSW Veteran Golfers Association Trophy on Thursday.
“We’re not sure how Friday is panning out at this stage – but it’s out of our hands.
“It would be remiss of me not to thank all the sponsors of this wonderful tournament.”
Sawtell’s Barry Woods captured the men’s NSW Veteran Golfers Association Trophy from Trevor Kempton.
“I love coming here,” he said.
“It’s such a well-run tournament.
“A big thanks to everyone who’s involved.”
In the women’s section, Helen Wheatley lifted the NSW Veteran Golfers Association Trophy from Di Thorley.
