Last year the committee received an award for the highest amount of fundraising per capita – almost triple other local activities.
And, in 2017, they’re hoping to take it a step further.
Merriwa Ride For Cancer will take place this Saturday from the Merriwa Showgrounds.
Registration is open from 6am with breakfast available.
The ride will leave about 7.30am with morning tea and lunch stops available on the way.
It’ll return to the showgrounds at 3pm – and Relay For Life will open at 3.30pm.
“It will be a big day of entertainment and activities, all while raising money for a great cause,” Cancer Council NSW Hunter community relations coordinator Clint Ekert said.
“Every cent that is raised in Merriwa stays here and supports patients.
“Currently, we are transporting patients to their treatment, which takes a massive burden off them and their families.”
Registration for the ride is just $20 and includes a free shirt.
There will be auctions, entertainment and fun for the entire family with dinner and drinks available during the afternoon and evening.
