BlazeAid is a volunteer organisation that works with families who have been affected by natural disasters such as fires and floods.
The helpers roll up their sleeves alongside the affected rural families to rebuild structures such as fences.
BlazeAid volunteers work in an area for several months to help rebuild the community; and also lift the spirits of those whose lives were impacted by the Sir Ivan Bushfire.
Fires that tore through the Cassislis/Dunedoo areas destroyed approximately 6000km of fencing.
A huge job is faced by the landowners to install new fencing.
This is not the most time consuming part of the exercise.
The fences that have been destroyed by the fire need to be removed.
This is the task that was undertaken by the SES volunteers at the weekend.
They worked alongside the landowners to cut sections of fence, role up the wire and load it onto trailers.
Fences containing netting were removed, rolled up in sections and loaded into trailers as well.
The SES volunteers returned home tired, but happy they were able to help.
They are planning to again return to the area to provide further assistance to the landowners.
It is hoped that more SES volunteers will get involved in the future.
The SES volunteers put a lot of time into training for storm and flood response.
They often leave their family and work during operational times to help the community during storms and floods.
As seen on the weekend, they see another area where they can provide assistance, and there they are.
