The big question was could sporting house Ledger once again beat rivals Pulling and Jones, or would they just simply flounder in the crystal-clear pool water?
Bystanders could easily have mistaken the event as a huge fancy dress ball as competitors did their best to psych out their opposition with dazzling costumes and accessories.
The frantic pace of the heats was matched by the frenzied screams of the Scone Grammar students as friendships were temporarily displaced in favour of sporting house loyalty.
One of the day’s highlights was the King and Queen of the Pool where each house assembled their best swimmers from each age category to complete a relay race.
Ledger emerged as the 2017 Queens of the Pool while Pulling triumphed as Kings of the Pool.
The major highlight of the day, however, was undoubtedly the Parents and Teachers versus Students relay race at the end of the day’s competition.
Led by principal Paul “The Torpedo” Smart, the parents and teachers were both determined and stylish in the pool.
The students couldn’t match the sheer speed of their adversaries but were still competitive as they unashamedly bent the rules.
Pool toys were hurled in the path of teachers and parents as they bravely powered on undaunted by the students who blatantly and habitually launched themselves for their respective turns long before their team mates had finished their laps.
Yes. It was close. But yet again the parents and teachers won.
