But, for the past couple of weeks, residents have been gearing up for the King of the Ranges with the inaugural selfie photo competition.
Wendy Seckold said the concept was to promote Murrurundi as more than just the annual Stockman’s Challenge and Bush Festival event.
“Murrurundi is evolving into an art and craft town with a number of galleries and collectable shops to browse,” she explained.
“It is worthwhile taking an extra day to take in what these businesses have to offer.
“And, visiting the area for the King of the Ranges is a great opportunity to do that.”
Fifteen businesses are participating in the selfie photo competition – and all have displays promoting the King of the Ranges.
“Participants are required to take their selfie in front of the display and show it to the shop assistant to have the entry form validated,” Mrs Seckold said.
“If they also purchase something while in the shop, they receive an additional stamp on their entry form.
“The photos are not required to be sent in with the entry form and the quality of the photo is not important.
“The winner of the competition is the person with the most stamps and will receive $100 plus a $100 voucher from Harvey Norman Tamworth.
“There is also a section for the funniest photo.
“To enter this, you need to email your picture to kingoftheranges@gmail.com
“The winner of the funniest photo will receive a $75 voucher from RB Sellars Clothing.”
The competition, which started on February 1, finishes on Saturday at 5pm.
Entries must be handed in to the Secretary’s Box at the King of the Ranges to be in the running for the prizes.
Entry forms can be downloaded from www.kingoftheranges.com.au
The King of the Ranges begins on Friday, wrapping up on Sunday.
