Minister for Family and Community Services Brad Hazzard said the SHCIF had already made a real difference for communities across the state.
“These organisations operate in the heart of their community,” he said.
“They see what needs doing, and the SHCIF gives them the funding to benefit their community, and improve the local area for years to come.
“I urge local councils, charities and community groups to think about future projects that could use this funding, to bring their community together.
“The new pot is a case of ‘use it or lose it’ and all local organisations should get ready for March 2017 when round three grants become available.”
One-off grants of up to $50,000 have been awarded to projects which enhance open space and improve community infrastructure/facilities such as meeting spaces, community gardens and common areas.
Local projects to be funded in this region include:
* Compass Housing Services (Muswellbrook) - Tindale and Forbes Street: Tenant Security Project - $40,816
* Compass Housing Services (Muswellbrook) - Glenbawn Community Cohesion - $49,657
* Upper Hunter Shire Council (Scone) - Murray Bain Oval Rejuvenation Project - $40,805
