And, this time, they’re offering entrants from the Upper Hunter – and members of the Aberdeen, Denman, Merriwa, Muswellbrook and Singleton Little Athletics Clubs – a chance to meet local sporting hero, GWS Giants netballer Kimberlee Green.
The ultimate search for Australia’s most passionate young athletes, the Little Jetstars competition celebrates good sportsmanship and dedication among participants with five lucky winners receiving an exclusive training session for them and 15 friends, led by one of Australia’s most well-known athletes – a Jetstar “Big Hero”.
Having participated in Little Athletics growing up, Green is part of an elite group of Australian athletes who have been chosen as Jetstar “Big Heroes” to lead the charge at training sessions all over the country.
Jetstar Australia chief commercial officer Catriona Larritt is ecstatic to see the Little Jetstars competition going from strength-to-strength.
“We’re proud to be naming rights sponsor of Jetstar Little Athletics Australia and it is great to have some of Australia’s biggest sporting stars on board,” she said.
“We’re pleased to bring the Little Jetstars competition to all Jetstar Little Athletics Australia participants for the 2016-17 season.
“Through our continued partnership, we look forward to further cementing our commitment to Australian communities.
“We are delighted to be helping little athletes reach for the stars.”
Green is equally excited to be involved in the Little Jetstars program and to get back to her grassroots where it all began.
“Little Athletics holds very fond memories for me and is such a great start for any kid who loves sport,” she said.
“I had a lot of fun in my days at St George Little Athletics Club and it was a great excuse to stay healthy and get involved in the community from a young age.
“I’m thrilled to be part of the Little Jetstars program and can’t wait to have a run around with the kids.”
The first of five Little Jetstars competition winners will be announced at the beginning of November and the remaining winners announced monthly through to March.
To enter, registered Little Athletics participants can head to www.littlejetstars.com.au and describe in 25 words or less, who is their big sports hero and why.
The Little Jetstars competition is now open, with entries closing on Tuesday, February 28.
