The Darlington Rural Fire Brigade members decided to join in this year’s event to raise money for research into a cure for the degenerative disease.
“MND claims nearly two lives a day in Australia and we need to do what we can to help find a cure,” Mr Miles said.
The volunteer said training for the climb proved the event would be a challenge, mentally and physically.
“But, half an hour’s pain is nothing compared to those diagnosed with MND," he said.
“I find it’s a great way to get awareness out and raise money for research.
“We have had so much support from the public.”
The pair started their 1504-step climb up Sydney Tower Eye at 9am on Sunday, October 23. Donations can still be made to the cause at www.firefightersclimbformnd.everydayhero.com/au/darlington-rfb
