The tournament, raising funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service – Singleton Volunteer Support Group, features more than 250 miners, who have swapped their work boots for footy ones.
“I’d like to acknowledge both Simon Clifford and Derrick Vale for establishing the inaugural charity knockout competition in 2014,” event organiser Danny Eather said.
“Now, as custodians of the tournament, we look forward to growing the event each year – and making it a highlight of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service’s fundraising calendar.”

The Mt Arthur Meerkats, Ashton Wombats, Hunter Valley Mining All Stars, Ravensworth Rhinos, Austar Swamp Rats and Hunter Valley United Cobras all progressed to the second round after strong opening victories.
