Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said the money would help clear a backlog of projects in country towns affected by ongoing water quality and sewerage problems.
“$110m has been provided by the NSW Nationals in government, to construct modern water and sewerage infrastructure in regional towns across NSW,” he said.
“The upgrade to the Cassilis sewerage system will ensure the longevity of public health and environmental safety locally for the community and ensure local agricultural industry can continue to utilise water resources with a clear level of quality assurance.
“This upgrade will allow Cassilis to benefit from improved water resources and develop structures and processes for our future.”
The NSW Government’s Regional Water and Waste Water Backlog Program will ensure regional towns have safe and reliable water and waste water services.
The program is part of Restart NSW, which provides funding for critical infrastructure across the state to improve both productivity and competitiveness.
