“Roads and Maritime Services is hosting a ‘Helping Learner Drivers Become Safer Drivers’ workshop at the Muswellbrook PCYC on Carl Street and Market Lane at Muswellbrook next Wednesday, September 7, at 5.30pm,” Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said.
“Parents and supervisors play a vital role in helping young drivers gain the experience they need to be safe on the roads.
“This local course has been developed to help them teach these skills with confidence and ultimately make the journey from L-plater to P-plater safer for all road users.
“The two-hour workshops include information about licence conditions for learner and P-plate drivers, tips for using the learner driver log book and the importance of providing constructive feedback.”
Mr Johnsen said parents and supervisors who have attended the course found it boosted their confidence and helped them better plan driving lessons, while also giving them the opportunity to share their experiences with other parents and supervisors.
“The course also reinforces the important role families play in providing ongoing support for young motorists in their early years of driving,” he concluded.
Bookings are essential and can be made by phoning 4924 0304.
