I invite local community groups, sports clubs and councils to apply for grants between $500,000 and $1 million for new or upgraded sport and recreation infrastructure projects.
These grants are being made available under the NSW Government’s ClubGRANTS program for projects providing modern and safe community facilities for people to take part in sport and recreation and improve fitness and well-being.
Over this term of government, around $50 million in ClubGRANTS will be provided to local communities across NSW to support three categories of infrastructure: sport and recreation, arts and culture and emergency relief facilities, which are a crucial part of any community.
Sport and recreation is part of our state’s social fabric and the NSW Government is committed to investing in facilities for our communities to enjoy for generations to come.
An applicant information pack is now available on the Liquor & Gaming NSW website www.liquorandgaming.justice.nsw.gov.au with expressions of interest closing on Friday 16 September. Successful projects will be announced in 2017.
JOBS TARGET
Regional NSW would be a key focus for jobs growth under a NSW Government plan to create an additional one million new, rewarding jobs over the next 20 years.
The State Government last week released the Jobs for the Future report outlining how NSW can harness opportunities and respond to challenges to create one million new jobs by 2036.
NSW leads the nation when it comes to job creation, but the world is changing and we must keep adapting with it. While it is pleasing that regional NSW currently leads all other regional areas across Australia in to job creation, there is no question that workplaces are rapidly changing and will continue to do so.
This strong focus on jobs growth is great news for the Upper Hunter electorate, as the release of Jobs for the Future had been supported by the announcement that a $30 million funding program will be established to specifically grow jobs in regional NSW.
