Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) recently announced the highly-respected mentor as Hunter Valley Football’s Newcastle Permanent Community Coach of the Month for June 2016.

Spradbrow was nominated by Muswellbrook FC for his devotion to a number of teams over the duration of his service to the club.

“Andrew has clearly worked very hard to ensure that his side enjoys their football experience,” NNSWF community football manager Peter Haynes said.

“The passion, enthusiasm and commitment to his players mean that he is a worthy recipient of the Newcastle Permanent Community Coach of the Month Award.”

Spradbrow, who guides the Eagles’ first grade outfit and trains all the senior players – male and female, admitted he was proud to receive the honour.

“It came as a bit of a surprise,” he said.

“I didn’t even know I’d been nominated to tell you the truth.

“I coach because I want everyone to play – but something like this makes it all worthwhile.”

Newcastle Permanent branch manager Muswellbrook Vanessa Muddiman congratulated Spradbrow on becoming the beneficiary of the Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Month Award.

“Coaching plays a vital role in developing the skills and attitude of young players,” she said.

“And, Andrew is well-respected among his peers.

“It’s great that Newcastle Permanent can provide the opportunity to recognise the efforts of local coaches who are dedicated to developing their players.”

Spradbrow received a coaching pack inclusive of balls, markers, bibs, whistle, polo shirt and cap, courtesy of Newcastle Permanent, to assist him in continuing to fulfil his valuable coaching role at the club.

Meanwhile, he’s turning his attention to Muswellbrook FC’s run home to the finals.

“I’ve been really happy with the season so far,” Spradbrow said.

“After a slow start, we posted seven wins on the trot.

“And, although we lost to Wallsend a couple of weeks ago, the guys bounced back with 2-1 victories over Merrylands Fletcher in both grades.”

The Eagles will be keen to continue their good form of late against Medowie, at Medowie, this weekend.
