While there may be a lot of activities and excitement, the day will also have a solemn moment with a minute’s silence for former president Barrie Lawn.
Mr Lawn, who died earlier this year, stepped down from his position as president prior to the 2015 festival.
For more than a decade, he devoted his time and effort to improving the games every year.
Alongside his dedicated committee, he sought to provide a great day for the community.
Aberdeen Highland Games president Charles Cooke said Mr Lawn’s mind was always on the event.
“Barrie had been a great supporter of the games and had devoted much time to ensuring it a success,” he said.
“During that time the games had steadily grown to the event we now have.
“Unfortunately ill health had prevented him from remaining at the helm.”
