Cancelled in 2015 due to flood damage from the April 21 ‘super ‘ storm people obviously missed their annual taste of all things farming.
A record crowd on Friday, the first day of the event, which is held at Tocal Agricultural College, Paterson, set the scene for a bumper weekend.
The only hiccup were light showers on Sunday morning which kept some visitors away otherwise it was smooth sailing for the organisers.
“It was a fabulous three days and wonderful to be back after the disappointment of 2015,” said Tocal Field Days manager Wendy Franklin.
“Given the number of visitors we were obviously really missed by the public and our exhibitors.”
Wendy said visitor numbers were up 80 per cent on the figures for 2014.
“I want to thank people for their patience on Saturday afternoon as they were trying to exit the site,” she said.
“We had so many people at Tocal we had to park cars in new areas and that led to some congestion later in the day.”
She said field days exhibitor numbers were also up and had reached current capacity.
“In the craft section we have exhibitors telling us it was their best year ever and already, in a first for the field days, we had people asking to book sites for 2017 even before the days were over,” said an exhausted Wendy.
In summing up Wendy said the organisers were overwhelmed with the public response with many people saying how much they had missed the event in 2015 and were glad it was back.
