On Friday afternoon, students from Muswellbrook High School, Singleton High School, and St Catherine’s Catholic College Singleton told the story of Tiddalick The Frog through dance.
Their performance at Muswellbrook Indoor Sports Centre was the result of two and a half days of workshops with Bengarra Dance Theatre in Sydney.
Bengarra’s program, Rekindling, has visited 16 communities around Australia so far.
Youth program director Sidney Saltner said the students did an amazing job in a very short amount of time.
“It was very much their story,” he said.
Muswellbrook High School principal Elizabeth Bate said she was very proud of the students’ performance of the story and the camaraderie between the schools.
“It’s great to see young people celebrating their cultural identity through dance,” she said.
