And, all the hard work will be recognised at an official opening tonight (Wednesday) from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, at Muswellbrook Preschool’s carols event.
Muswellbrook Preschool director Kelly Constable said the garden was a great way for the children to learn about their surrounding environment and explore their senses.
“It is a healthy place of discovery which provides a therapeutic and safe way for children to explore,” she said.
“Stimulation occurs courtesy of the plants and materials used that engage children’s senses of sight, smell, touch, taste, and sound.
“We are excited that the sensory garden will also benefit children who suffer from sensory problems as well as other disabilities.”
Bengalla contributed $7800 to the project, with design and construction undertaken by preschool staff members and Bengalla maintenance employees.
Additionally, Muswellbrook Landscape Supplies provided free delivery of dirt, bark, mulch, cobble, and crushed white stone.
Pit Patrol donated a swing, and Freo Cranes and Jonesy’s Excavators also provided equipment and labour to help construct the garden.
“A heartfelt thank you to Bengalla, all the workers who constructed the amazing garden, Craig and Rachael Loose, and our Sensory Garden Committee,” Mrs Constable said.
“The garden looks amazing and the children were very excited to explore it this week.”
Bengalla general manager operations Jo-Anne Scarini said it is encouraging to see the preschool being creative in how they engage and develop the children.
“Bengalla is pleased we could help Muswellbrook Preschool bring their vision to life with thanks to our Maintenance team and apprentices who constructed the garden,” she said.
“It’s great to work alongside the other local businesses who lent a hand or equipment for the cause.
“We hope the unique outdoor learning facility will prove to be the perfect environment for Muswellbrook’s pre-schoolers to grow.”
