PCYC manager De-anne Douglas said Glencore donated $6,143 worth of equipment to the club through their junior sports development program.
“We put in an application to get some new gear because we badly needed new equipment for the kids,” she said.
The contribution has also made it possible for PCYC to offer table tennis as a new activity.
“It’s fantastic they actually have these grants available,” Ms Douglas said.
“It’s not something we have the money readily available to buy so we are very grateful to get the grant.
New junior boxing gear includes ropes, pads, and boxing gloves.
“We also got some new nets and pads to fix our futsal equipment,” Ms Douglas said.
“Our nets had massive big holes in them.
“I’m very grateful for the support and I know the kids are too they have been excited about the new equipment.”
Each week, the club welcomes around 40 children, aged 10 to 16 years of age to its boxing classes.
“It’s all about discipline and structure and fitness,” Ms Douglas said.
She is now encouraging other junior sports organisations to apply for a great if they see one available, and said the application process was very easy to do.
“Anyone interested in table tennis, young or old, come down and have a go,” she said.
