“I have always thought he was going to be a good horse and I have had the championships in the back of my mind for a while,” Clement said.
“He will go for a break now bit it won’t be for very long.
“That will give me plenty of time to have him ready for the championships.”
Rachael Murray skipped Desert Marshall away on the turn and he maintained the advantage for an impressive win.
Scone trainer Peter Bloomfield wasted no time with the latest addition to his stable, Farah, winning the Olympic Glory @ Arrowfield Maiden (900m).
The horse, raced by stable supporter John Thompson, was previously trained by Allan Denham and was only sent to Bloomfield after he ran eighth at Hawkesbury on September 10.
“The horse came to me in great order two weeks ago and, to be honest, I have not done much with him since he arrived,” Bloomfield said.
“I am starting to think he might be a horse that races best when kept a little fresh.”
Bloomfield had experience with the breed.
He trained Farah’s half brother Weepu (by Fubu) whereas Farah is by Commands.
Meanwhile the Newcastle meeting on Saturday has been moved to Scone and will be run by Scone Race Club but classed as a provincial meeting.
Scone Race Club’s secretary/manager Sarah Wills said she and the committee were excited at the opportunity to again show case Scone race course on the busiest and most important race day of the week.
“We are not only showcasing Scone to punters but also to those trainers who normally race at Newcastle,” Ms Wills said.
“Many of those trainers might send horses to Scone at carnival time but not at other times during the year.
“This gives them and owners another opportunity to come to Scone.
“We are also happy to help Newcastle while their track is undergoing an upgrade.”
