The local group received $500 from the Arts NSW Cultural Grants Program.
Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen said he was proud the NSW Government was able to fund the Society.
“The Muswellbrook Shire Local and Family History Society is working towards compiling cemetery records for Wybong, Mount Danger & Giant Creeks,” he said.
“Other parts of our local area and its history have already been compiled, and this grant will allow further research.
“It was great to meet this morning with Lionel Ahern and Gary Meissner from the Society, to discuss what this grant will mean to their research.
“The work undertaken by the Society will result in cemetery records being documented in a database with accompanying maps that will show the location of each grave site at each cemetery.”
