The championships hosted 116 teams ranging in ages from 35s to 55s from July 23-26.
The 50’s team played in Division 3 and took on sides from Dubbo, Coffs Harbour, Far South Coast and Sydney North West.
The team managed three wins and one loss, from a penalty stroke, in the round of games, placing the outfit in second.
Goalscorers were Bronny Fuller 2 and Liz Batterham 2.
In the semi-final, Scone played Sydney North West, with a 0-all draw pushing them through to the final against Coffs Harbour.
It was a very exciting game, with great plays from the team’s attackers which, on several occasions, just missed the goal box.
A strong stand from the side’s defensive play ers stopped Coffs Harbour from scoring.
The game ended in a 0-all draw, thus making Scone joint champions for the 50’s Division 3. Meanwhile, Scone’s 40s team played in Division 3 and came up against teams from Parkes, Bathurst, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Illawarra South Coast, Inverell and Moree and Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
The 40’s team managed two wins, three draws and two losses, scoring a total of seven goals and only conceding four against them.
This put them in fourth position, which was a great effort considering they only had 10 players all weekend.
Goalscorers were: Angie Parkes 1, Sarah Lewer 3, Paula Crackett 1 and Suzie Bray 2.
