National Tree Day will be held on Sunday, July 26 and Schools Tree Day on Friday, July 24.
The environmental group is encouraging communities within the Upper Hunter to nominate co-ordinators to organise a tree planting or nature-care event.
Co-ordinators don't need to be planting or gardening experts.
Councils, schools, national parks, Landcare, Bushcare, nature care, community groups, businesses, religious or even sporting groups are encouraged to take part.
The aim of the project is to connect people with nature, beautify local neighbourhoods and inspire positive environmental change.
In the past five years Singleton Council has planted 5000 trees at Nowlan Park as part of a bushland corridor to provide shelter for local fauna.
Muswellbrook Shire Council is hosting National Tree Day activities at Karoola Park in Muswellbrook and at the Denman Recreation Area between the cricket ground and the golf course.
Council is aiming to increase biodiversity and provide habitat for local bird life in both areas.
Those wanting more information about National Tree Day or Schools Tree Day events should contact their local council or Planet Ark.
