Winning jockey Craig Williams was jubiliant after the race, run at Scone in front of a crowd of around 5,000 on Friday.
A short half head was all that separated Tales of Grimm from a very worthy 2nd place getter, the Gai Waterhouse-trained Frespanol.
Third placing went to San Diego.
The young trainer, Sam Kavanagh, had worked at Widden Stud near Denman when he was a youngster.
Winning jockey Craig Williams gave his race goggles to a young girl who was standing along the fence after the big win.
There'll be more photos and social snaps of the Scone Cup meeting in the Hunter Valley News and Muswellbrook Chronicle over the coming days.
