An emotional crowd gathered at Bulga to greet the Premier of New South Wales, Mike Baird, on his whirlwind tour of the Hunter Valley on Tuesday.

Despite learning they would not be able to participate in the discussion between Mr Baird, Planning Minister Rob Stokes and four representatives from the Bulga Milbrodale Progress Association, they pushed aside their initial disappointment to calmly welcome the pair.
Both Mr Baird and Mr Stokes took their time as they introduced themselves to the small crowd of locals.
They listened intently to the residents recounting what it is like to live next door to the various large scale open-cut mining operations in the area.
With one resident thanking the Premier for taking the time to personally visit the embattled village.
