MEMBERS of the Upper Hunter Branch of the Newcastle District Vintage & Classic Car Club have taken part in the Maitland Steam Fest.

There were more than 400 cars on display, ranging from the early 1900s to more modern cars.
President of the Upper Hunter Branch Rod Bowd’s 1929 Chevrolet Tourer won a runner-up trophy for Best Open Vehicle on display.
“It was a huge win considering the number of cars which showed up on the day,” he said.
“The first steam-driven car was a hit with the visitors to the festival.
“The old trains were [also] magnificent in action, along with all the other steam-driven plant on display.”
The Upper Hunter Branch takes in the areas of Singleton to Cassilis and up to Murrurundi.
The club meets at the Muswellbrook RSL on the third Thursday of each month at 8pm.
Its next rally is to the Upper Hunter Wine and Food Affair at Denman and Quirindi Swap Meet.
