The service takes places at Scots’ Church on the corner of Collins & Russell Streets, starting at 11.30am.
Mr Fraser, the Prime Minister of Australia from 1975-1983, passed away last Friday after a short illness, aged 84.
He was the Minister for Education and Science from 1971-1972 and 1968-1969.
He also served as the Minister for Defence from 1969-1971, and was the Minister for the Army from 1966-1968.
Mr Fraser was the Liberal MP for the federal seat of Wannon in Victoria from 1955-1983.
Members of the public are welcome to attend the formal farewell, and will be allocated seating in order of arrival until the venue reaches capacity.
The Scots’ Church service will also be televised.
The Fraser family accepted the offer of a State Funeral, which was made by the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet.
