The troop has spent months rehearsing The Boobytrap as members hope for similar numbers to their previous five-night show in 2013.
The Mummers formed around 1967 with the aim of fostering local talent.
Along the way, they’ve raised much-needed funds for local charities and organisations.
In the past decade alone, the Mummers have amassed $83,825 towards the Scott Memorial Hospital, Scone Cancer Support Group, Muswellbrook Oncology Unit, Upper Hunter Education Fund, Ellerston and Belltrees Public Schools and, of course, to the Soldiers’ Memorial Hall at Moonan Flat, which is the heart of the community.
The Boobytrap starts April 17, and continues on April 18 and 24, May 1 and 2.
Moonan Mummers publicity officer Marion McLoughlin said there were plenty of personnel involved in the running of the show.
“We currently have 40 paid-up members on the books, most of whom don’t wish to be on the stage but who help in all the important tasks in putting on a show and catering for up to 160 people a night,” she said.
“In the early days we would produce a play one year and have a variety concert the next.
“Somewhere along the line, someone had the brilliant idea of running the show as a theatre restaurant and our audience numbers multiplied so that we quickly went from one night to two, then four, now five or six.”
The Boobytrap is a light-hearted comedy which follows the story of a previously normal family’s descent into mayhem.
