Shower Of Hearts went to Wyong at the beginning of this month with three wins and a second from her last four country starts and was well in commission for a fillies and mares Benchmark 60 over 1350 metres.
However she never raised the hopes of her backers and was beaten a long way when last.
Her rider, Brenton Avdulla, told stewards he had expected to lead but she showed no early speed, she hung throughout the race and was beaten at the 600 metres.
He also told stewards the filly had coughed after the race.
Griffith said an endoscopic examination had shown nothing amiss.
“It was a hot, humid day, there was the trip down, she had been standing in the tie ups for some time and I think she had an off day,” Griffith said.
“I got her home and gave her 10 days off and her work since then has been good.”
Friday promises to be a lot cooler and all she has to do is walk across the road.
“Hopefully she will race up to the potential we know she has.”
Griffith will have another five runners including unraced two year old Jee See See in the Horsepower Two Year OId (1100m).
He has had one trial for a second in a Gunnedah trial.
"He is a lovely big, strong horse and will be a better three year old but I think he will run well,” Griffith said.
Griffith’s well-bred three year old Anchor Chain will resume in the Kia Ora Stud Three Year Old Maiden as will stable mate Sizzling Suze.
Anchor Chain, by Testa Rosa out of the Group Three winning mare Princess Gisella, improved at all three of his starts at his first preparation and resumes after a lengthy break.
Griffith had planned to take him to Taree on Thursday but the horse drew wide and with the rail out three metres decided Scone was the easier option.
