For almost a decade the Samaritans Christmas Lunch at Singleton has welcomed those who would otherwise be alone on Christmas.
Event organiser Wendy Love said the lunch has grown since it was established nine years ago.
“We are always looking for volunteers and I think this year, because of the downturn, we anticipate more people coming,” she said.
Mrs Love said it was an event for everyone, even families who are new to the area and may be away from extended family.
There will be music from Bert Ray and Noel Riley, and Santa will visit to give presents to the children.
Mrs Love said she is very grateful for all the support from the major sponsors who come back year after year to help make the day a reality.
“Thanks to Rix’s Creek Mine and Glencore Mt Owen Complex,” she said.
She said so many local businesses also did what they could to support it.
The fun will begin at 11am on Christmas Day, at the Senior Citizens Centre in Bathurst Street, Singleton.
