A first trip overseas could be nerve-racking for some, but Danielle Nicol was all excitement as she began her journey to Brazil on Sunday.

The Muswellbrook local was delighted to discover she had been selected to represent Australia at the National Club Championships in Brazil.
The 16-year-old Muswellbrook student has been playing soccer since she was five, but a recent interest in futsal is what scored her the international tour.
It was after an impressive performance at the 2014 National Futsal Championships that Nicol received the exciting news.
While there may be some similarities between soccer and futsal, there are also some variations.
Nicol said the newer sport is higher in impact and intensity.
“I enjoy the fact that it’s faster and you have to be ready at all times,” she said.
While she is looking forward to the playing against some of the best in the world, there will also be plenty of opportunity for sightseeing.
The St Joseph’s, Aberdeen, student is delighted to be playing in a women’s team at just 16 years of age.
Nicol and her team mates left for the tour on Sunday and will return December 11.
