The building can be used for a range of purposes from theatre productions to private functions, and the local theatre group are very excited about the restoration.
Scone Community Amateur Dramatic Society (SCADS) vice president Anne Frame said the renovations had been nearly five years in the making.
“The work goes on and so it should,” she told those present.
“When we all next see this long standing, substantial, solid country building- which is part of the town’s history- let’s remember it was indeed worth the effort.”
Some of the work on the theatre includes replaced roof sheeting and gutters, new front doors and a new disabled ramp.
“Future funding will be required and council and the community need to be creative about that,” Upper Hunter Shire mayor Michael Johnsen said.
“Council will continue to fund minor maintenance, apply for grants and receive money through the hiring of the theatre.”
SCADS will perform their first production in the newly transformed building on October, 23, 24 and 25 at 8pm.Tickets are $25 and can be bought Serendipity, 163 Kelly Street, Scone.
