Relay For Life is for them.
The Cancer Council Australia event began in 1985 and has since grown into a national affair raising much-needed money and awareness.
Organising committee member for the Singleton Relay, Erica Janssen said the group wants to emphasize the event is not just about pouring money into the cause.
Residents are encouraged to attend and enjoy a great community event, remember those close to them who have suffered from the disease, and increase local knowledge about the different types of cancers.
“Relay For Life covers all cancers,” Mrs Janssen said.
“We just want people to come and have a good time.
“There will be a full night of entertainment.”
The event will begin at 4pm on Saturday, October 25, and will continue through the night until the closing ceremony at 9am the following morning. Teams usually consist of 10 to 15 people.
So far, the Singleton event, which is in its ninth year, has raised $574,218.
There will be a candlelight ceremony at dusk, and a survivors and carers lap.
The registration fee of $20 per person includes a Relay For Life shirt and a free breakfast on the Sunday morning, provided by Apex.
There is no minimum age and those keen to participate can register on the day so it isn’t too late to join in.
Don’t miss your chance to be a part of the event and help lessen the reach of cancer- every donation makes a difference, no matter how big or small.
There will be an information evening at 69 John Street, Singleton on Tuesday, October 21, from 7.30pm.
