Event organiser Lyn Richards said numbers have doubled from last year’s inaugural event and the program has plenty for students to learn.
Representatives from the Weeds Authority will combine with experts with backgrounds in nutrition, pasture and artificial breeding as well as industry relevant people with experience in clipping, parading and judging will share their knowledge with the students.
Some 120 students from Dungog through to Tamworth will spend two days at the showground, camping overnight to hone their cattle skills.
“There will be students aged from eight to 17 so in terms of the logistics, it is a huge event to coordinate but one the students get a lot from,” Mrs Richards said.
Mrs Richards said she was encouraged towards the agricultural industry when she was 13.
“I had mentors supporting me so this is my way of giving back,” she said.
The event is a lead up to the renowned cattle competition, Beef Bonanza.
The Cattle Camp is at Muswellbrook Showground on October 9 and 10.
