Mr Souris said he’d call it a day at the NSW general election on March 28, 2015.
“The National Party called for nominations for a candidate to contest the next election,” he said.
“However, I will not be a candidate this time thereby completing 27 years in Parliament.”
Mr Souris, who attended the 2014 AGL Singleton Show today (Saturday) with wife Vassy, has been on the front bench as a Minister or Shadow Minister for 23 of those years serving in the Greiner, Fahey and O’Farrell cabinets.
He said it had been a privilege to represent the Upper Hunter electorate.
