“I encourage everyone to attend the concert,” he said.
“Bruce is a brilliant guitarist and we are very lucky to bring him and his band back to the Upper Hunter for what will be a very exciting show.
“I urge those interested to book their seats now to ensure they don’t miss out on the opportunity to see him perform in town.”
Saturday’s special public performance by Mathiske and his band is the final instalment in the UHCM’s 2014 Visiting Artists Series, which is funded by Arts NSW.
The program aims to offer the community a variety of engaging music experiences through performance and access to professional artists of different styles, techniques and instruments.
And, for the first time, the UHCM will present the concert under the stars at the Muswellbrook Racecourse.
“Bring your blankets or beanbags to enjoy this wonderful show,” Mr Wills said.
“Food and drink will be available for purchase at the racecourse.”
Mathiske has travelled the world and most recently as the “Rhythm Hunter”.
It’s through these travels that he has discovered diverse colours of music and rhythms from Latin America, Africa, the Mediterranean, as well as the flavours of gypsy, flamenco and jungle and infused them all into his already diverse and unique style.
“A regular to the Upper Hunter, Bruce is looking forward to returning to share his exciting world music experience, which has wowed crowds,” Mr Wills said.
“With a dexterous finger span, the award-winning guitarist plays lead, rhythm, and bass all at the same time.
“The technique gives a solid impression of more than one guitarist playing, and has made him one of Australia's stars of the instrument.”
Gates open at 6pm, with the concert starting at 7pm.
Tickets – $25 (adults) and $15 (concessions) – are available now through the Upper Hunter Conservatorium.
