The first event in town saw 22 registered participants making the five-kilometre trek around Rose Point Park.
Parkrun is a free, weekly run/walk open to the community where the focus is on fun and fitness.
While the events are timed, it is not a race and participants only compete against themselves.
The process to bring parkrun to Singleton began in April and has been made possible thanks to a dedicated team of local volunteers led by event director Courtenay Batterham.
It is proudly sponsored by Singleton Council and Hunter Medicare Local.
Parkrun Singleton will take place every Saturday from 8am in Rose Point Park, starting between the netball courts near the cricket nets.
Register for free online at www.parkrun.com.au/singleton, print off your unique barcode and bring it along each week to have your time recorded.
This week’s fastest female runner was Stanley while the fastest male was Slomka.
There are currently more than 87,000 registered park runners around Australia at 88 locations.
