Already developing an unwanted reputation as being injury prone, highly-rated Collingwood youngster Matthew Scharenberg has again been dealt a blow, sustaining a suspected knee injury during the Magpies' VFL victory over Bendigo on Friday night.

Scharenberg exited the field during the second quarter at the Queen Elizabeth Oval. Collingwood indicated that the sixth pick overall in last year's national draft would be assessed in the coming days.
"Matt Scharenberg will have scans over the weekend after leaving the ground on crutches with a suspected knee injury," the Magpies tweeted from the club's official account.
South Australian utility Scharenberg has been restricted to just five VFL games in his first season on the Collingwood list, the first of which came in late July. He had been hampered by foot injuries which also plagued him during his final year as a junior.
Collingwood has had a star-crossed run with injuries in recent weeks. Fellow top-10 pick Nathan Freeman suffered a hamstring complaint last month and is still yet to play a game in either the VFL or AFL.
No fewer than 10 AFL-listed Magpies have been ruled out for the remainder of 2014, a list that includes key forward midfielder Dayne Beams and tall utility Ben Reid, with key forward Travis Cloke unlikely to play again unless Collingwood goes deep into September. Gun onballers Dane Swan and Scott Pendlebury have also been sidelined, although both have been named to play GWS on Saturday.
The Magpies' VFL outfit had a 46-point win over Bendigo, with Quinten Lynch kicking five goals in the side's last hitout before the finals. It was the Gold's final ever match in the competition.
