The youngsters, their parents and family attended the 2014 Group 21 Junior Rugby League ceremony with special guests from Country Rugby League.
Players from Scone, Singleton, Muswellbrook, Denman, Merriwa and Aberdeen were congratulated for their bumper season on the field representing the group.
The presentation acknowledged each of the 20 players in the under-12s, 13s, 14s, 15s and 16s who enjoyed a successful year, as well as awarded the best in each age group with the Player of the Series award.
The 2014 season was fruitful for Group 21 with all teams performing fantastically and bringing away wins to be proud of.
The under-12 and 13 development squads enjoyed undefeated trial matches at Bingara, the under-14s were victorious in a trial against Maitland at Aberdeen and the under-14s and under-15s both made the finals of the Country Champions Cup in Port Macquarie, which has only been achieved by the group once in the past five years.
The under-16 team won the Knights Cup at Salamander Bay, as well as the John O’Halloran Trophy at the Regional Championships at Tamworth.
Seven of the under-16 players qualified for the Greater Northern Tigers representative team and two local boys made the NSW CRL squad.
Group 21 Junior Rugby League president Ernie Martin said 2014 had been a very successful year, with 1085 players registered in their ranks.
Martin said the season had seen the re-emergence of Aberdeen juniors, who were part of the 25 teams fielded from under-12s through to under-16s, of which 15 made the finals and four were minor premiers.
“Congratulations to all the representative players who have done extremely well and made us all proud,” he said.
“There has been so much hard work put in by the boys and I can’t emphasise how important it is for the older boys to make the cup finals.
“Everywhere the boys went their performance and behaviour was exemplary.”
The Players of the Series were: under-12s Bailey Miller, under-13s Henry Hall, under-14s Tom Baker, under-15s Brock Matthews and under-16s Lachlan Walmsley.
The overall representative Player of the Year was shared between Jessie Horn and Brad Collett.
