“In too many areas, Telstra is refusing to roll out ADSL Broadband ahead of the arrival of the NBN,” he said.
“For many, that is too long to wait for a reasonable broadband service.
“The ultimate solution is the NBN, which was to be fibre to the home but will now become fibre to the node under Tony Abbott.
“This will leave Australia and especially regional Australia lagging behind many other developed countries, negatively affecting jobs growth at a time when the Hunter, in particular, is experiencing job losses.
“High-speed internet is not a luxury, it is a necessity.”
Residents can sign the petition online at www.joelfitzgibbon.com or scan the QR code (left) on your mobile device.
“If you are unable to go online please call my office on 4991 1022 and I’ll deliver one to you,” Mr Fitzgibbon said.
