The annual event has been growing since it began a decade ago and is, again, set to be a page-turner.
A wide range of books will be on sale at Singleton Showground pavilion this weekend.
Trading begins tomorrow at 9am and Singleton Lions president Mick McCrone suggests getting in as early as possible to snap up a bargain.
He said despite information technology advances, he believes people still value books.
“I think some people like to just pick up a book and turn over a page occasionally,” he told the Hunter Valley News.
The books are collected throughout the year and Lions members have been busy sorting the multitude of literature.
“It’s our biggest fundraiser of the year; the shed is chock-a-block full of books,” Mr McCrone said.
The crew began setting up the pavilion yesterday with help from the Army.
Mr McCrone said there was a great range available and books varied in price, up to $5.
The fair will trade from 9am to 5pm tomorrow to Saturday, August 2.
All proceeds will go to local charities and community groups.
Singleton Lions Club has almost 50 members and is always welcoming more.
“Helping the community where we can – it’s still the reason people join Lions,” Mr McCrone said.
