7.30am: Our Hockeyroos have got their campaign off to the perfect start with a 4-0 win against Malaysia.

6.42am: Meanwhile, Anna Meares has solidified herself as Australia's greatest ever Commonwealth Games cyclist with a gold medal in the 500m time trial.

6.30am: Australia win the Women's 4x100m freestyle relay fold medal in world record time of 3:30.98 seconds. This time is even better than the "supersuit" record set by the Dutch. Bronte Barrett, who broke the Commonwealth Games record in the first 100m of the race: "It was a great start, first swim of meet, and I wanted to get rid of cobwebs." Emma Mckeon: "When stuff like this happens I'm usually watching on TV. It's very overwhelming and trying to keep relaxed." Cate Campbell - "To quote Mohammad Ali: "We are the greatest" - I've been waiting for a while to say that!"

6am: Australians Emma McKeon, Ellen Gandy, Alicia Coutts and Ellen Grady have qualified for the final of the women's 100m butterfly.

5.47am: The Brownlee brothers, Alistair and Jonathan, have finished one, two in the men's triathlon. The form triathletes since their efforts in London 2012, Alistair said he considered crossing the line with his brother, who eventually finished a mere 11 seconds behind. 

5.35am: Our netball team have notched up a resounding 63-36 win in their first match against Wales. As the gold medal favourites, Australia will be looking to slowly build before a likely semi-final against England and potential final against the New Zealand Silver Ferns.

5.30am: For tonight's final of the men's 50m butterfly, Australia will be represented by Jayden Hadler and Christopher Wright, who qualified sixth and seventh. 

5.20am: Men's cycling team pursuit gold medal goes to Australia. Well done to Team pursuit gold medalists: Jack Bobridge, Luke Davison, Alex Edmondson and Glenn O'Shea of Australia.

5.15am: Leiston Pickett of Australia won her semi final of the women's 50m breaststoke, while fellow Australians Lorna Tonks and Sally Hunter came fourth and fifth respectively and will have to wait until the second semi-final to see if they are quick enough to qualify for tomorrow's final. 

5am: Rowan Crowthers of Australia - just 16 - set a new world record in the men's S9 100 metres freestyle, leading an Australian clean sweep. Matthew Cowdrey and Brenden Hall got the silver and bronze respectively.

4.56am: Emma McKeon has won the gold medal in the women's 200m freestyle, while her brother David was swum down in the final 25 metres in the 400m. Emma powered on to take the gold medal in a new Commonwealth Games record.

4.44am: Another classic in the men's 400m freestyle. David McKeon of Australia led for the first 375 metres including the first 300 under world record pace before Ryan Cochrane of Canada, the 1500 metres specialist swam over the top of him to snatch the gold.

4.27am: Australia's Keryn McMaster, pictured below, claims Bronze in the women's 400m individual medley with a time of 4 minutes 36.35 seconds. She finished behind Scotland's Hannah Miley and England's Aimee Willmot.
