Scone Junior Rugby Union’s most devoted made the eight-hour return trip to Moree recently for a great day of rugby.

The weather was ideal and the boys made their mark with entertaining plays and memorable tries.
The Scone under-12s had a few players missing with a team of 11, however teamed up with Coonabarabran to form Team Scoona.
“As it turned out, the Scoona side was absolutely awesome,” coach Alex Warner said.
“And, over their three games, the boys put on a dazzling display of running rugby.”
The newly-formed team gelled well and had a convincing 32-0 win over Inverell, with the first try scored in the opening 30 seconds of the match.
Game two was against a well-drilled Gunnedah outfit, however the boys were on fire recording another resounding win 39-7.
The last fixture was against competition frontrunners Armidale.
“Armidale tried to play a spoiling style of footy,” Warner said.
“Not that it bothered Team Scoona unduly, and they crashed and bashed their way to another emphatic victory, 30-0.
“The Scone boys have had a lot of rugby this year and it was certainly obvious by the way they could put multiple phase plays together, and their backing up was simply outstanding.”
The Anzac Award was awarded to Edward Bell.
The Scone under-8s, Kerembla Drillers, had three comprehensive wins from three games against Inverell, Tamworth and Walcha.
“We had two under-6s play up in the under-8s with both Andrew Crowther and George Patterson getting among the thick of the action and scoring numerous tries,” coach Angus Patterson said.
“The balance of the team – Will ‘Crompy’ Crompton, Alex ‘Bisho’ Bishop, Super Cooper Wilson, The ‘Max Factor’ Patterson, Blake ‘Grimsey’ Grimes, Elliott ‘Bully’ Bull and Dan ‘Snowball’ Crowther – played out of their skins and outplayed there opposition in all facets of the game.
“The most pleasing aspect was their support plays which lead to numerous tries involving multiple passes before scoring the five-pointers.”
A sole, dedicated under-6 player flew the flag for Scone at Moree, Hamish Davidson.
The players focused on their ball skills and continued to work on “the prawn”.
Davidson was included warmly by the friendly Moree club and had a great morning of rugby.
