A number of sports organisers from Upper Hunter schools met and elected the following people – president J. Russell (Singleton PS), vice-president C. Baker (Singleton Heights PS) and secretary/treasurer I. Ingle (Muswellbrook PS) – to the committee.
Many convenors and venues were coordinated for the year ahead.
Already, swimming, cricket, basketball and rugby league have been held in what is a busy term one for aspiring representatives.
Trials took place last month for netball, hockey, football and cross country while further opportunities await for touch (May 14) and athletics (August 1).
Schools can send individual entries in for AFL, golf, rugby and softball as convenors could not be found.
The following pupils have been selected to attend the regional trials in their chosen sports:
Swimming – Abbey Ellis (Muswellbrook), Teagan Moore (King Street), Lara Dawson (Scone), Oliver Berry (King St), Isaac Small (Muswellbrook), Andrew Harris (Sandy Hollow), Charlie Richardson (Scone), and relay teams from Ellerston, Martindale, Mt Pleasant, Sandy Hollow, Blandford, King St and Scone
Rugby league – Lachlan Marco (Muswellbrook), Tommy Dixon (Aberdeen), Jayden Harshman (Aberdeen), Bailey Miller (Aberdeen), Andrew Lambkin (Broke), Jackson Stair (Sandy Hollow), Lleyton Rose (King St), Jackson Slade (King St), Cooper Maytom (King St), Aiden Allgood (Singleton Heights), Luke Smith (Denman), Connor Bussey (Denman), Brock Greacen (Denman), Mac Shepherdson (Denman), Hunter Ball (Denman), Kobe Bone (Denman), Harrison Whitehead (King St)
Three Upper Hunter cricketers represented the Hunter recently with Ellis and Daisy Durham (Muswellbrook PS) travelling to Barooga to play in the girls’ state cricket carnival and Miller currently taking the field in the boys’ tournament on the Central Coast.
Netball players who were chosen at trials in Singleton included Ellis, Durham, Ella Drayton (Muswellbrook), Adelaide Sylvester, Taylor Lawrence (Small Schools), Mia Mason Miia (Singleton Heights), Olivia Hebie (Singleton Heights), Caitlan Warren (Singleton Heights), Carla Rinkin (King Street), Josie Bates (King St).
The girls played at Newcastle, placing third out of nine teams, and Durham, Miia and Sylvester making the Possibles versus Probables to be held soon.

To complete the term, the zone cross country took place at Karoola Park, Muswellbrook, with approximately 250 athletes attending and running over two-kilometre and three-kilometre courses.

Mswellbrook Public School took out the trophy for champion school.
The UHPSSA also farewells Karl Morris (Scone PS), who heads off to the coast and the organisation wishes him all the best at his new location.
