The event is being put on by the Upper Hunter Youth Council and brings together students from throughout the region.

Funding from Music NSW program Indent was received to help put on a grassroots concert, which encourages new and emerging talent to have a go at performing.

Upper Hunter Shire mayor Michael Johnsen said young people were involved in all aspects of Youth Beat.

“Catering for the night will be organised and run by students from a cooperative group of Student Representative Council reps from St Joseph’s, Scone High and Scone Grammar Schools,” he said.

“The committee putting on Youth Beat has been strongly supported by our young people with 

representatives from Scone Grammar School and Scone High School having input into aspects of the concert, from promotions to pricing and ticketing.

“We hope young people will share their talents and support those brave enough to take to the stage for the Youth Beat concert.

“Youth Beat is for high school aged students and older Upper Hunter youth.

“There’ll be no alcohol or smoking allowed and large bags will not be allowed in. 

“The concert will be held from 7pm at the Scone High School MPU Hall, which is well equipped with sound and lighting equipment needed to put on a professional event.

“The entertainment class from Scone High School will man the sound and light.”

Tickets, available at the door, are $10 and also being sold at local schools.
