Enthusiastic people from the Endeavour Group and children from Scone Pre-School have added their artistic touches by painting several panels of the 11-metre long mural.
Other organisations such as Strathearn Aged Care, Scone Primary School, the Scone and Aberdeen Neighbourhood Centres, Ability Links and the Scone Library will add their stamp to the mural in weeks to come.
The painting, with an equine theme, drawn by Andrew Davis, will be erected at the beginning of the Scone Horse Festival on the fence in Main Street, opposite the Scone Scout Hall and provide a permanent enhancement to the streetscape.
“It’s really encouraging seeing the interest that people have shown in being part of this community art project,” Scone and Aberdeen Neighbourhood Centres manager Lee Watts said.
“The mural is steadily coming to life as people attend the workshops to help paint it.
“I would encourage anyone who has not yet attended a workshop and who would like to see their work displayed for many years to come, to phone us at the neighbourhood centre and book into one of the sessions.”
Individuals or groups wishing to attend a workshop can phone the Scone Neighbourhood Centre on 6545 2562.
